Baltimore's Country Cousin

I will be starting a block of the month with Mum and Mrs Vickie in February. We have all selected different colors for the background of our quilts. I decided on purple. Then I got concerned about purchasing that much fabric without knowing how it would look. Mum suggested that I make a smaller test block in some of the colors I was thinking of to see how they would look. Today Honey went with me to the fabric store to select some fat quarters and this is what I came up with. I decided to make the Scottish Thistle block. I am itching to start it but I want to finish my pink heart squares first. (I am still trying to learn to be patient).

OH JOY! Dear Honey is Home!

He has been gone all week and was missed not only by me but the dog, cats and birds. We were all so happy to see him tonight.

Finished Projects

Several years ago I finished these two pictures but never had them framed. In fact I put them in a drawer and forgot about them. Then I came across them just before I went to visit my Mum. So I took them with me so we could select frames. I couldn't believe how good they looked when I got them back.

Mama's New Old Machine

Yesterday Honey and I went to pick up Mama's new old machine. I was amazed at what good condition it is in. It certainly is a beauty.

What a day this has been

I registered for classes today. The school thinks I have three classes left and I think I have one. I will go back after I find my transcripts. At any rate I should be finished and have a degree in six months.

On another note, I am starting a quilt with Mum and MsV. It is a Baltimore Album's Cousin Quilt. The problem is I can't decide which square to start with. I don't have much time either since we start in February.

Quilt Idea

Of course I thought it was a new idea and then found many others also had the same love and idea.

I have been collecting handkerchiefs to make a quilt. Every time Honey and I go to a shop or antique show I look for someone selling hankies. When I find them I select five. (sometimes something speaks and I purchase more). When I have enough and the confidance I will make a quilt of them. There are several people I have bought hankies from who are waiting for a finished project. They want to see (and I am maybe display) what can be done with their wares. Not a bad idea. I think my Mum will be able to help me find the perfect way to create a quilt so others can enjoy these hankies.

Mom and Me Quilt

I have now completed 16 squares of the pink heart quilt. Mum and decided on it when I visited her this summer. Because of that it is really near and dear to my heart. Some of the blocks I have completed are pictured. Then I found that I had finished more. Who would have thunk??

I am so looking forward to Mum and I putting this quilt together and each having one.

Another Saturday Skating event!

Honey took me skating again yesterday. He still refuses to get on the ice but I am going to continue to work on him. Of course since it was 69 degrees so the ice really was not that good, but the Pengiun was fun, and I got to ice skate in short sleeves.

Good Luck Soldier

PFC April H. came over for supper tonight. She is going to VA tomorrow and then to Ft. Campbell KY. Honey and I are so proud of her and all she is doing. We checked the van she will be driving before she left (just the parents in us). Honey assures me she will be fine, she is a Soldier, not a baby. While the former Soldier in me recognizes that, the Mom in me just wants to hug her. She said she would come run with me tomorrow before she left and I hope to have a picture to publish.

My Prayers are with all those who are serving our country and their famlies.
I will post pictures later today. I hope to finish one quilt square today and two of Ms.Tiff's gifts. I also plan to go ice skating (I have to take advantage of the time they are open) and take Honeys Mum's sewing machine to the shop. Maybe I can even get my nails done....It sounds like quite a big tasking...time will tell.

Pink Heart Quilt

I finished another square today and started the next one. I am really looking forward to the finished product. Actually I am looking forward to finishing a project. I did laundry and dishes today. I had lunch with Honey today. I am trying to learn to be me and not a Mom. Who would have thought it would be this hard. It was easy before the baby came along... Oh well, I will have to adjust.

Mum's Grand Idea

My Mum had the Grand Idea of using a large pad to identify home projects to be completed. As a Former Soldier I can easily identify with this. We often posted our projects on what we call Butcher Paper, large pads of paper that we could write our ideas on. So my new goal is to start setting up my home keeping ideas on the large pad I already have and then work from there.

Today was a pretty good day. Honey and I had lunch together. He had a long day at work and then a docter's appointment.

I planted the flowers we bought this weekend in the flower boxes on the porch. I think they will really look nice as they fill in. I hope to have pictures tomorrow.

I think tomorrow I will go to the cemetary I have adopted and make a list if things to be done. There is a lot of cleaning to be done and Honey has agreed help...Maybe this weekend is the weekend. We will see.

Over all this has been a good holiday, I just miss my family bunches...Of course I have to believe they miss me too.

Happy New Year!!

Dear Honey and I are having a nice quiet day together to start off the new year. Yesterday I cooked collards and black-eyed peas for the traditional lunch. Now I am cooking the ham and Honey is making the cornbread. After lunch we are going to see a movie.
